Check out the special issue of IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing on Ethics in Affective Computing here - I am very happy to know that some of my reflections helped nudge the topic slightly. I have boiled down in recent years one of my messages to "Not every person who smiles is happy". This might sound trivial, but it is not if tech equals smile with happiness and uses this to sell product or services. Michel Valstar writes on the story behind the special issue here and graciously refers to my talk in Memphis 14 years ago.
